Ron Paul on the Morton Downey Jr. Show circa 1988

Ron Paul as a guest on the Morton Downey Jr. Show

I know it's hard to believe, kids, but at one time conservatives were cool.  Or at least some of them were.  Back in the 80's at the end of the Reagan era, America was in pretty decent shape.  I know the hardcore liberals will argue and say "Uhh. NO it wasn't!"...But honestly, if you are old enough to remember...compared to the problems facing the U.S. today, the 80's were practically a golden era of peace and prosperity.  So, if you watch the following video, put things in the perspective that many conservatives of that time would be moderates in today's political climate.  In the late 80's, Morton Downey Jr. was painted as a right wing nut-job by many liberal voices in the media, and those who did not like him labeled his program as "trash television."  But the most of the views he expresses in this vid would be considered "establishment" viewpoints today, and this type of a high brow conversation, minus the yelling, reminds one more of what you would see on CSPAN when compared with modern day reality "trash" tv.

In retrospect, it's interesting to see that at that time many people were optimistic enough to believe the "war on drugs" could actually be won.  I don't know if Ron Paul's ideas are 100% the right course... but almost 25 years later, it is obvious a new approach is needed.

And on that note, I will leave you for today...

Once again, God bless you all, and thank you for your support.
